About Me
My name is Chris Margocs, and I've been in education for twenty of the twenty-six years since I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Special Education from the University of Texas in Austin in 1987. I've taught elementary resource classes, supported students in the inclusion setting, and facilitated ARDs in a secondary disciplinary alternative education setting. I fulfilled a long-term dream of obtaining my Master's degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University in May 2012.
I believe teachers have a lasting impact on students; what we say, and more importantly, what we do in the classroom can make or break a child's attitude toward education. Children need to feel safe at school, be valued as learners, and be provided opportunities to explore topics of inquiry while learning foundational skills. I feel I've accomplished these goals in my classrooms over the years, and will continue to create a safe and welcoming learning environment in my future library. As a special education teacher, I am used to working collaboratively with my students' general classroom teachers to ensure student success; I look forward to working collaboratively with teachers and administrators on a broader scale. The library should be a place of inquiry, literacy, and relaxation for students and staff alike.
